Our Million Mile Campaign train is chugging along nicely, and our most recent update is a win for all running aficionados for our events moving forward.
New partnership in effect
When we head out to run, walk or support our favourite athletes, security is probably the last thing on our minds. But what about our vehicles in the car park or our homes while we’re away?
Emergency 24 and the BAFA Foundation are teaming up to address those concerns through a new partnership built around one simple message: Safety On and Off the Road.
The initiative brings together Emergency 24’s 40 years of security experience and the BAFA Foundation’s commitment to promoting fitness, wellness and community development across Trinidad and Tobago.
As part of the partnership, Emergency 24 will provide security personnel to help protect race villages and designated parking areas at BAFA Foundation events, giving participants and spectators greater peace of mind while they enjoy the action.
“When you are out on the course pushing for a personal best, the last thing you should be worrying about is whether your car is safe in the parking lot or if your home is secure while you are away,” said Joel Hunte, Manager at Emergency 24.
“For 40 years, Emergency 24 has protected homes and businesses. Through our partnership with the BAFA Foundation, we are taking that protection directly to the streets—delivering complete peace of mind on and off the road.”

But that isn’t all…
The partnership extends beyond event-day security, with Emergency 24 also making its special 40th Anniversary Promotion available to BAFA Foundation participants and the wider sporting community.
The offer includes a free basic security system and installation, with 24/7 professional monitoring and rapid armed response available for $400 per month, billed quarterly in advance.
The service also includes integrated fire and emergency medical services (EMS) response.
Exclusive rates on fleet GPS tracking and on-site guarding services will also be available.
BAFA Foundation Chief Marketing Officer Krystel Davidson said the partnership reinforces the organisation’s commitment to providing a safer environment for the athletes and communities it serves.
“Our athletes give everything on the road, and they deserve to know that their personal safety—and their property—is completely protected from the moment they arrive at the venue to the moment they get back home,” Davidson said.
“Emergency 24’s presence at our race villages and parking areas sets a new benchmark for event security in Trinidad and Tobago.”
With the partnership, both organisations are looking to make safety an integral part of the sporting experience, from the starting line to the journey home.

Journey to a million continues
Hold up, you thought that we were through; that we wouldn’t keep you in the loop what’s happening on the streets?
Well you thought wrong, and the streets are buzzing with the sounds of new kicks and Garmin watches beeping. Here’s where we’re at right now.
Since our last update, the collective mileage has climbed from 368,938 to 370,882 miles, putting the campaign at 37.1 per cent of its million-mile target.
That’s another 1,944 miles on the board, bringing the Caribbean fitness community one step closer to that coveted million-mile milestone.
And while there’s still plenty of ground to cover, the teams and individuals taking part are certainly doing their bit to keep the wheels turning.
Who’s leading the way?
Cargo Consolidators Agency Limited continues to set the pace among the teams, stretching its lead with an impressive 1,695.3 miles.
ZS Associates remains in second place with 1,311.5 miles, while PPF moves into the top three with 872.3 miles.

There’s still plenty of time for the standings to change, of course, but the front-runners have certainly been putting in the work.

The road to a million miles continues
The numbers continue to climb, but remember, this challenge isn’t simply about chasing a big number on a leaderboard.
The Caribbean Million Mile Challenge is a year-long fitness adventure designed to get walkers, runners and hikers moving while encouraging them to discover the Caribbean through its natural beauty, communities and culture.
Part One of the 2026 challenge remains underway, giving participants four months to accumulate 100 kilometres, or 62 miles, through multiple activities.
That could mean daily walks around the neighbourhood, training runs, organised races or hiking adventures. The idea is simple: get moving, keep moving and let every mile count.
Adventure awaits
Let’s be honest. Running can get a little monotonous, particularly for the average bloke simply trying to stay in shape while repeatedly taking the same well-trodden route.
The Million Mile Challenge gives you a reason to shake things up.
Participants can decide where and when they complete their miles, opening the door to new routes, fresh scenery and opportunities to explore some of the breathtaking locations around Trinidad and the wider Caribbean.
Fancy a roadside trek? Go for it.
Want to squeeze in a few miles during your lunch break? Why not?
Or perhaps you’re feeling adventurous enough to tackle something like the famous satellite dish hike?
The choice is yours.
Just remember to plan your route, stay safe and make those miles count.

One piece at a time
Of course, there’s a little something extra waiting for those who complete each stage of the challenge.
Participants who finish each part will earn one piece of Bafasports’ inaugural three-piece Puzzle Medal Sphere — a collectible medal series inspired by the Caribbean’s wildlife, flora, landmarks, traditions and diverse landscapes.
Complete all three stages and the pieces eventually come together to form the larger spherical keepsake.
For Part One, that means the first piece is up for grabs.
And here’s the thing: this isn’t about who gets there fastest. Consistency, not speed, is the name of the game.
Whether you’re clocking up miles at a brisk pace or simply getting out for a leisurely walk, every eligible kilometre contributes towards the target.
The message remains simple: Every mile counts.
Get your Strava ready…
There are plenty of ways to keep track of your progress, including Strava and other fitness-tracking apps.
So strap on those fitness watches, make sure the GPS is behaving itself and start plotting your routes.
You can steal a few kilometres during your downtime, lace up for a training run, assemble the crew for a weekend adventure or simply make movement part of your daily routine.
Registration also includes Bafasports MVP membership, giving participants access to exclusive member benefits and the opportunity to earn MVP Miles when they register for eligible Bafasports races and challenges.

The bigger picture
The Caribbean Million Mile Challenge forms part of Bafasports’ continued push to promote active lifestyles while encouraging participants to explore their communities and the wider Caribbean through movement.
From the casual evening walker to the marathoner, weekend hiker and competitive racer, there’s room for everyone on this journey.
With 370,882 miles covered and 37.1 per cent of the target achieved, the campaign is steadily making progress towards that million-mile goal.
The 40 per cent milestone is now within reach, and there’s still plenty of road ahead.
So whether you’re chasing a personal best, discovering a new hiking trail or simply taking the long way home on your evening walk, keep moving.
There are plenty more miles to come.
