East Coast calling: Manswell, Goitia take Run D Coast honours

Over to the East Coast

This weekend we combined forces with the Mayaro–Rio Claro Regional Corporation to bring Corporation Week celebrations to the road on Saturday with the staging of the Run D Coast 5K 2026, welcoming runners and walkers for an early-morning test in east Trinidad.

Running off at 6:00am, participants were treated to more than just a chance to chase the clock.

The race featured hydration and motivation stations along the course, refreshments for participants, race-course photography, and health screening, adding a community-focused dimension to the morning’s activities.

There was also plenty at stake for those looking to finish among the front-runners, with prizes offered to the top three male and female finishers, while age-group awards provided additional incentive across the field.

Every finisher also received a commemorative medal, ensuring that participants had something tangible to take home from the Corporation Week celebration.

The Run D Coast 5K ultimately combined fitness, community and celebration, giving residents and visiting participants another opportunity to get active while showcasing the Mayaro–Rio Claro region through the shared experience of road running.

Sand, Sea, and Asphalt…

The race was more of the asphalt this time in truth, as the course started and ended at Plaisance Circular Road at the Mayaro Recreation Ground, before a left turn at Naparima/Mayaro Road, then down Guaguayare Mayaro Road which took the runners to the sands where they ran northwards and cut left to Beaumont Road, before returning to the start via Gill Street, Ocean View Lane, Sea Grass Lane, and Sea Kale Lane.

Manswell and Goitia reign supreme

Marc Manswell claimed the men’s title in 20 minutes, 14.2 seconds, finishing more than a minute clear of his nearest challenger.

Ricardo Cova was second in 21:20.0, 1:05.8 behind Manswell, while Jaedan Richards completed the podium in 21:41.7, a further 21.7 seconds adrift.

In the women’s race, Shenequa Goitia took a clear victory in 26:05.5, finishing more than six minutes ahead of the rest of the field.

Latoya Warrick was second in 32:23.7, with Elizabeth Sylvan just 1.8 seconds behind in 32:25.5 to secure third place.

The Night is Coming Soon…

October is in full swing, which means that the Trinidad and Tobago Midnight 10k Magdalena 2026 is almost here. Look out for more details here as we near the October 25, run off over in Tobago.

Before the final midnight race for the year though, runners can warm up with the Van Sertima Elite 5K 2026 on Saturday, and the Million Mile Campaign is still ongoing, which promises more opportunities to lace up and get out on the roads in the 868.
