Runners aged 2 to 61 shine at #GirlsRunTT 2025 Cross Country 1K and 6K

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – The Queen’s Park Savannah (QPS) came alive on Sunday, August 10th, as Bafasports and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs hosted the #GirlsRunTT 2025 Cross Country (XC) 6K and kids 1K popup events.

The events formed part of the Pink Reign campaign, which seeks to promote women and girls in sport.

In the kids 1K event, children aged 2 to 12 hit the QPS with energy, excitement and enthusiasm.

While every runner gave it their all, 11-year-old Micah Manswell crossed the finish line first overall, clocking a time of 4:43.

Following the excitement of the kids 1K, the spotlight shifted to the 6K event.

Team PPF made their presence known, seizing three of the top four overall finishes and the top three finishes in the female category.

David Charles, 20, finished first overall in a time of 34:27, but it was ten-year-old Simaya Tidd and nine-year-old Amiyah Porter who stole the show, finishing second and third overall in 35:09 and 35:10 respectively.

Well over 100 participants lined up at the start on race day across both events. The competitors’ ages varied, from the youngest, a two-year-old girl (Anais Agard) to the oldest, 61-year-old Alma Nipper.

Nipper put in an inspiring and remarkable performance, finishing 19th overall in 46:52.

The day was filled with energy and enjoyment, as women and men from across the country came together to compete in the spirited event.

Latoya Thompson-Jacob, Project Administrator for Pink Reign TT, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown at the community popup events, and shared her excitement for the final race — a 6K scheduled for August 24th.

The success of #GirlsRunTT 2025 would not have been possible without the generous support of:

Subway Trinidad & Tobago, Starbucks Trinidad & Tobago, Powerade TT – Official Isotonic Sponsor, Trinebox / Trincargo, Dasani – Official Water Sponsor, EVE Pantry Trinidad & Tobago, good N’ natural and IBIS and Smile Express Dental.
