Midnight Runner Series crosses the finish line in Tobago

The road was long and dark, but the 2026 Midnight Runner Series season finally crossed the finish line, and what better place to bring the curtain down than Tobago?

Runners crossed the strait to line up at the starting line at the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort, where the final leg delivered one last midnight adventure to round off the series.

One last midnight adventure

The Midnight 10K Magdalena offered runners and walkers a unique race-night experience, with the picturesque Lowlands resort providing the backdrop as participants put sneakers to pavement for the final time in the 2026 series.

With a glow-in-the-dark finisher’s medal awaiting those who completed the course, there was plenty to make the final outing memorable.

Participants also benefited from race-course photography to capture special moments, hydration and motivation stations along the way, and prizes to be won.

The celebrations continued beyond the finish line, with steelpan, calypso, soca and more providing the soundtrack to the occasion. Part proceeds from the event also went towards charity, adding another meaningful dimension to the experience.

A season of midnight miles

The Tobago finale capped a series that took running aficionados on a journey through some familiar and not-so-familiar corners of Trinidad and Tobago.

From the nightlife of Ariapita Avenue, to the roadside sounds and rhythms of Chaguaramas at the Military Museum, and the long pilgrimage to Dinsley along the Bus Route and back, the series offered a variety of challenges and experiences.

The run to Dinsley and back at the Midnight Marathon also featured the Ekiden Relay which then also featured the Secondary Schools Half Marathon Relay at the QPS, adding team competition and school pride to the mix.

That was quite a journey, we know! But with the final miles now behind us, it was time to celebrate those who rose to the challenge and put their names on the leaderboard.

Turner and Gooding lead the way

Elvis Turner claimed the men’s title at the Midnight 10K Magdalena, crossing the finish line in 38 minutes, 37.6 seconds, Marc Manswell secured second place in 40:33.7, narrowly holding off Dirk Eichberger, who finished third in 40:35.5.

In the women’s category, JanicĂ© Gooding took top honours in 50:05.3. Laura Wahoon followed in 51:48.1 to claim second place, while Chevanne Joseph completed the podium in 53:26.8.

The running calendar rolls on

With the Midnight Runner Series season wrapped up, there is little time for runners to put their feet up.

November brings another packed calendar of opportunities to get moving, chase a personal best, or simply enjoy the camaraderie that makes the local running scene tick.

First up is the Fatima Back to Basics 5K on November 7, followed by the Starfish Beach Mile Pop-up at Las Cuevas Beach on November 21. The month then rounds off with the KFC Chase the Taste 5K on November 28.

Three events, three opportunities to get back out there, and plenty more miles to look forward to. The Midnight Runner Series may have crossed its finish line for 2026, but the running season is far from over!
