All stops to Arima…
Tafari Waldron is back as August went out on the run with the PTSC Wellness Express 5K bringing another morning of movement, competition and community spirit this time to Arima on Sunday.
The race offered something for everyone, with runners, joggers and walkers taking to the course in celebration of health and wellness.
Beyond the competitive element, participants were treated to finisher medals, race-course photography, hydration and motivation stations, along with product sampling and giveaways, while the leading athletes battled for cash prizes and age-group honours.

Flying down the PBR
The route was a clean as a road race could be, as the course started from the PTSC station next-door to the Arima branch of the Licensing Office, before bombing down the Priority Bus Route to just after Boys Lane before making the u-turn back to the start to rack up the distance.

Tafari is back!
On the competitive front, Tafari Waldron produced the standout performance of the morning, taking the men’s title in 16 minutes, 22.2 seconds. Waldron established a clear advantage over Darius Harding, who crossed the line second in 17:26.0, while Isaiah Alder completed the podium in 17:52.5.
In the women’s race, Nyla Kerr claimed top honours with a strong 19:31.5, finishing comfortably ahead of Alexia John, who clocked 21:35.3 for second. Aaliyah Griffith II secured third place in 23:33.8, rounding out the women’s podium.

More to come of course…
The Wellness Express 5K brought a busy August of road-running activity to a fitting close, but there is little time to catch the breath.
The final third of the year is already gathering pace, with the rescheduled Sach and Steel 5K Pop-Up now set for September 10. With another month of racing on the horizon, the road-running community can look forward to more opportunities to compete, connect and keep moving.
