Every step is a reminder, every stride is a tribute.
That was the message leading into our TTPS Coup Attempt Remembrance 6K 2026, which ran off at 4pm on Sunday afternoon in Port of Spain.
In another sold-out race, the message was even more compelling than the action on the asphalt, as in collaboration with the TTPS, we paid tribute to the heroes in the July 1990 Attempted Coup, including Assistant Superintendent Roger George and Police Sentry Solomon McLeod, and all those who served with courage.

The 6K march…
The route wasn’t quite as botanical as the Rio Run 5K the day before, but scenic in its own right.
Starting and finishing at the Police Administration Building, runners made their way north on a steady trek towards the Queen’s Park Savannah on St Vincent Street, where they made the QPS lap before heading back via St Vincent to where they started.

Alder and Khafra victorious over 6K
And in the race itself, Isaiah Alder claimed victory in the men’s race, crossing the line in 22 minutes, 23.5 seconds to finish 40.4 seconds ahead of Akil Ragbir, who clocked 23:03.9. Marc Manswell completed the podium in 23:16.2, just 12.3 seconds behind Ragbir.
Neferta Khafra led the women’s field to victory in 32:04.1, finishing 1:20.2 ahead of her sister Heqpera Khafra, who took second in 33:24.3. Charmaine Dookie rounded out the women’s podium in 33:49.0, just 24.7 seconds behind Heqpera.
