The premier organisers of the road races in T&T are back as the Arbor Rosewood-Trimont College 5K 2026 resumed the race culture for us here at Bafasports.
Yesterday’s race kick started the second half of 2026, after a long lull in the action after the Midnight Runner Series Midnight Marathon at the start of last month, this time coming back to the Queen’s Park Savannah for another 5K on the asphalt.

It’s good to be back!
Runners lined up in their hundreds at the starters’ gantry, as the race was catered as a fun-filled community event celebrating family, fitness, and education.
Thanks to the efforts from our staff as well as the Arbor Primary, and Rosewood-Trimont Secondary schools, the event lived up to the billing with a quick and easy route around the savannah as we’ve become famous for, except this time with a twist.
Familiar surroundings
As most would know around the QPS, we favour the TGI Fridays/Dundonald Street start before heading down Hayes street and rerouting back to the Savannah.
This time around, the race started from Hayes Street at St Mary’s College grounds before diverting left at the QPS before making the savannah lap and then swinging down Hayes again to finish up a quick race.
Romany tops the podium again, Kerr steals it in the women’s
And a quick race it was.
In a tight finish, Nicholas Romany, who seized top spot at the Midnight 10K Ariapita in March, streaked through the gantry clocking 15 minutes, and 11 seconds to deny training partner, and local 5K phenom Tafari Waldron, who came in second in 15:13.9, while Kenyan Alex Ekesa, who lowered his record at last month’s Midnight Marathon, finished in third: 15:17.6.
Nyala Kerr was the first woman to finish, and she knocked serial Bafasports events winner Alexia John, off her pedestal to do it.
Kerr was first in 18:55.9, while John wasn’t too far behind in 19:09.4, while April Francis sealed her place on the podium two minutes later, when she clocked 20:55.3 in third place.

Kathy-Ann’s incredible journey continues…
There’s usually a story of its own unfolding during every race, and yesterday was no different.
One of our very own ambassadors, Kathy-Ann Lewis, crossed the gantry in 27:53.5, which is not only as fantastic as a time anyone could hope for, but only tells a small portion of the story.
Yesterday’s race was the latest chapter in her ongoing weight loss and fitness story, as she lost over 100 pounds, becoming a fitness sensation in the process, and is a regular face at our flagship events as not just an ambassador, but also as a participant.
Her story proves that with consistency, any goal is attainable.
All hands on deck
And of course, this event wouldn’t have been the resounding success it was without our aforementioned staff, Arbor, Rosewood-Trimont, and a slew of financial partners including; Subway, the NCC, Eve, Xtra Foods, Dasani, Good N’ Natural, E Health, Powerade, Starbucks, and Trinebox.
